I. Overview
The Emax series of air circuit breakers can be divided into 6 models: X1, E1, E2, E3, E4 and E6, with frame currents up to 6300 A. Products E1 - E6, both fixed and withdrawable, have the same height and depth and can be assembled in compact switch cabinets.
- Customer benefits
There are many ways to ensure maximum safety, such as the cabinet door swinging out when closed, the external protection level up to IP54, various safety locks and double insulation.
The innovative pole structure design can not only ensure complete insulation between phase wires and between phase wires and neutral wires, but also check the status of arc chute and main contact.
Strong product performance. Now the frame current of E1 can reach 1600A; the performance of E3 is more powerful and can reach V level.
- Main features
Extraordinary intelligence. The new generation of protection trip units is equipped with advanced electronic components, which can be customized for different control and protection schemes.
The new trip units are versatile and easy to use, and feature important innovations such as a new, intuitive operator interface that allows the user to fully control the entire system with just a few button presses.
There are also new protection and alarm functions, and can be connected to a laptop/laptop via Bluetooth technology.
With the standard attachment system developed and manufactured for the new Emax circuit breakers, work becomes easier, more convenient, safer and faster.
II. Product Advantages
ABB Emax air circuit breakers (fixed and withdrawable) have the same height and depth and can be installed in switchgear, their performance ensures operator safety. For example: when the cabinet door is closed, the circuit breaker can be rolled out, the protection level reaches IP54, and it also has a safety lock and double insulation. Phase-to-phase and phase-to-neutral are fully insulated, and a complete inspection of the arc chute and main contacts is possible.
- Structure
The structure of the circuit breaker is made of steel plate, which can reduce the size of the circuit breaker and make it more compact. Double-layer insulation is used to isolate the charged body to enhance its safety, and the phases are completely separated.
The whole series of circuit breakers have the characteristics of the same height and the same depth, and the withdrawable type is suitable for installation in switchboards with a depth of 500mm. The 324mm wide (rated current up to 2000A) drawout circuit breakers can be installed in switchboards with 400mm wide bays. These compact dimensions can also replace earlier air circuit breakers.
- Operating mechanism
The operating mechanism is of the energy storage type, that is, it operates with a pre-charged spring. The spring charge can be manually operated on the front handle or electrically operated with a geared motor. The opening spring is automatically charged during the closing operation.
Through the closing and opening coils installed inside the operating mechanism, and the use of geared motors to charge the springs, the circuit breaker can be operated remotely and, if necessary, can also monitor the coordination of the system.
The spring does not need to be recharged during the following operating cycles:
- The circuit breaker is open (O) at the beginning, and the spring is charged: closed-open;
- The circuit breaker is closed (I) at the beginning, and the spring has been charged: open-close-open;
This operating mechanism can be used throughout the products listed below, with mechanical and electrical anti-jump devices installed.
